Frequently asked questions

Login name does not work properly

As the GCSE Science system covers many schools, you need to include your 4-character school code at the end of your login name. For instance, a user with a login of jsmith and school code of 1234 will need to enter jsmith1234 as their login to access the system.

I can't add or amend users on the system

The teacher login doesn't give you any access to the administration functions in the system. If you need to add or amend user details you will need to log in as an administrator - ask your administrator to create an admin account for you, or use an existing administrator username/password if you have one.

I can't access some of the New Scientist content

The New Scientist links on the website link to articles on the newscientist.com website.  When you log in you will see news stories from New Scientist. These are updated every day. At the item level we have provided links to a mix of free and subscription-only content matched to the specification. You will only see the first few paragraphs of a subscription-only story, and will only be able to read the full article if you log in to newscientist.com and if your school has spent £750 on AQA Science Uncovered, you will receive a free login to newscientist.com. If your school already has a subscription, enter your existing username and password on the newscientist.com website to get full access to all stories. If not, you can register with them to get full access to all the stories we have linked to as well as all the other content they provide.

I have to scroll to see the whole of the content viewer

The content player is currently optimised to work with screen resolutions of 1024 x 768 or higher. We are working on a version for resolutions of 800 x 600 and this will allow you to view all of the content without needing to scroll the screen.

I can't install the Crocodile Clips player

This is a known problem with some managed networks. We are working on an installer for RM CC3 networks (and others) - in the meantime you will need to ask your network technician to install the player on any machines that may need to use it.

I can't view a lesson I have saved to my computer

You may not be able to view a lesson you have saved if your school has a managed network. We are working on a fix for this, but in the meantime you can view saved lessons by either logging on to your school network as an administrator or running the lesson on a machine that is not connected to your network.

I can't view one of my saved lessons as it has expired

For security. saved lessons will only work for three months after you have saved them to a network or PC. To access the lesson after this you will need to log in to the system and re-save the lesson to your network or PC. You won't have to create the lesson again, as a copy is held in your 'My lessons'.
